Venturing into the open sea

Eressea, our previous yacht was moored at Mooloolaba on Queensland's sunshine coast, and it was normal to cross a comparatively safe bar and head out to the open sea without giving it too much thought. However, this time we were feeling anxious as we passed by the Barrenjoey lighthouse into the open sea. I don't know if this was due to us being a bit rusty, or some nagging doubt about Stella's capabilities, or the fact that there were just two of us or the realisation that our adventure was starting.

Once we passed by the lighthouse, we headed into the open sea for about ten miles before tacking south. We were feeling good, and any doubts subsided and the adventure begins.
